Rebecca Antoniou was born and raised in the English Northamptonshire countryside. In the early 1990's after studying fashion design in London she was recruited by Tommy Hilfiger as a head designer to help scale his fast-growing New York company.
Within ten years Rebecca's successful career in fashion design would shift towards illustration as she became one of the most sought-after commercial artists in New York working for the leading style magazines, fashion companies and record labels.
Gradually frustrated by commercial restrictions and in search of an uncompromised freedom Rebecca focused more on purely fine art projects. Painting in oils and mixed media on large scale canvases as well as making detailed colored pencil studies on handmade paper. Her subjects range from figurative nudes celebrating a sensuous, monumental female empowerment to the timeless in motion relationship between horses and humans. These themes are connected by a deep respect and fascination with the natural world.
In 2015 Rebecca Antoniou left New York City and moved to Connecticut with her husband and their two children to set up her first fine art studio, Atelier RA.
In 2021 Rebecca Antoniou exhibited her work for the first time in a group show at the Carriage Barn Gallery in New Canaan CT and today continues to sell her work as well as taking on private commissions.
